Timing

When is the best time to marry in Phuket?

There is a genuine sweet spot for Phuket beach weddings — and there are months couples worry about that are quieter and prettier than you'd think.

The honest answer is that Phuket has two seasons, and both work for a wedding — but they feel different, cost different amounts, and need slightly different planning. Here's what actually matters when you're picking a date.

November to March — the dry season sweet spot

Dry-season golden hour — the classic Barefoot ceremony window.

This is the classic Phuket window. Long stretches of sun, calm seas, low humidity and beautiful sunsets. Hotel prices are at their highest and the beaches are busier, but it's the most reliable weather of the year. If you want zero weather anxiety, book in this window.

April — hot, sunny, quietening down

April is the hottest month, so we recommend a late-afternoon ceremony. It's still dry, hotel prices soften slightly, and the beaches begin to empty. A very good value month if you can handle heat.

May to October — green season, real rain, real beauty

This is the green season. Rain is more frequent but usually short — an hour of heavy shower, then blue sky. Beaches are dramatic and mostly empty, prices drop, and the light is softer. Ceremonies still go ahead. Supparin watches the forecast in the days leading up and, where useful, adjusts the ceremony time on the day so you get the calmest window.

If it's actively raining at your slot, we'll move by an hour or two, or shift to a sheltered alternative. That's a conversation, not a template.

Time of day matters more than month

In any month, late afternoon into sunset is the most flattering time to marry on a Phuket beach — softer light for photography, cooler for guests, and the sea at its calmest. Morning ceremonies are lovely too, especially if you want the day free afterwards. See how we choose the right beach for your slot.

Month by month, honestly

Averages hide a lot in the tropics, but here's how each month tends to feel for a ceremony:

  • January — the driest, calmest month. Sunset light is at its clearest. Very popular; book early.
  • February — near-identical to January, still peak season, still book early.
  • March — reliably dry and warm; light starts to become richer and slightly hazy at sunset.
  • April — the hottest month. Late afternoon is essential. Quieter beaches.
  • May — the shoulder. First short green-season showers begin, but plenty of blue-sky days.
  • June — occasional bright, dramatic light between rain windows. Beaches are calm and empty.
  • July — wetter, softer, cinematic light. Ceremonies almost always find a dry window.
  • August — similar to July with slightly livelier surf; time-shifts on the day are more common.
  • September — statistically the wettest month, but ceremonies still go ahead with careful timing.
  • October — the season turns. Some of the most beautiful skies of the year appear here.
  • November — dry season begins in earnest. Bookings pick up. Excellent all-round month.
  • December — peak season is on. Popular, warm, dry, and premium-priced.

What to wear on a Phuket beach

The climate is warm and humid, the surface is sand, and there is usually a light breeze. That rules out a few common city-wedding choices — and rewards fabrics you might not have considered.

For the bride

  • Choose lightweight, flowing fabrics — chiffon, silk, light crepe, soft lace overlays.
  • Avoid heavy structured gowns, thick corsetry and long stiff trains (they drag in sand and hold heat).
  • Skip the veil, or choose a short one — long veils fight the sea breeze.
  • Bare feet are the norm on the sand — bring simple flats for the walk from transport.
  • Hair worn half-up or braided sits much better in wind than a full blow-out.

For the groom

  • Linen or lightweight cotton suits — cream, sand, pale blue, soft grey.
  • Roll sleeves if a jacket is skipped; barefoot or leather sandals.
  • Skip a heavy dark wool suit — it looks great in photos, feels awful in humidity.

For guests

  • Smart-casual — linen, cotton, floral prints.
  • Flats or sandals; heels sink into the sand.
  • A light shawl or wrap for the breeze once the sun is low.

What we recommend

If you want the surest weather, book November to March. If you want a quieter, softer, more private feel — and you're relaxed about the possibility of shifting your ceremony time by an hour — May to October is genuinely beautiful and significantly cheaper for flights and hotels.
