Weather

What happens if it rains on our wedding day.

This is the question almost every couple asks. The short answer: Phuket rain is rarely the disaster it sounds like, and Supparin has a calm plan for every scenario.

Phuket has two seasons — a dry stretch from November to April, and a green stretch from May to October. Even in the wettest months, an entire washout day is rare. What you usually get is a bright morning, a short heavy burst somewhere in the afternoon, then the sun back out an hour later. That reality shapes how we plan every ceremony.

The forecast we actually watch

Tropical weather passes through — most rain days still deliver a beautiful ceremony window.

Supparin follows the live radar, not just the seven-day app. From about 48 hours out, we can see the shape of the day — where the cells are moving, how long they'll linger, which beaches are staying dry. By the morning of your wedding, we know the two or three good windows and pick the calmest one for your ceremony.

Time shifts almost always solve it

Because Barefoot ceremonies are short and beautifully simple, we can move them. If the original slot looks wet, we shift an hour earlier or an hour later. In more than a decade of Phuket weddings, this small adjustment is what has kept the vast majority of ceremonies completely dry.

Plan B — a sheltered spot nearby

If the whole afternoon is unworkable, we don't stand around hoping. Supparin knows sheltered beach-adjacent spots — covered terraces, sala pavilions, garden areas with a sea view — where a Barefoot ceremony still feels like a Barefoot ceremony. Same celebrant, same flowers, same photographer, same feeling.

Plan C — reschedule, at no extra cost

On the rare day the weather genuinely defeats us, we move your booking to the next workable date. You do not pay a second permit fee, a second celebrant fee or a second coordination fee. Weather rescheduling is baked into how we run Barefoot — it isn't an upsell.

Choosing a lower-risk month

If weather is a real concern for you, the simplest lever is picking a drier month. Our best time of year guide walks through every month honestly, including which weeks are quietly excellent value even in the green season.

Why we don't panic about rain

A short shower half an hour before the ceremony almost always leaves the beach looking better than before — the sand darkens, the light softens, the crowds thin out. Some of our favourite ceremony photos were taken twenty minutes after a passing squall. Rain in Phuket is not the enemy people assume it is.

What overcast weather does to your photography

Most couples worry rain will ruin the photos. In practice, the opposite is usually true. Overcast light is what professional wedding photographers actively look for — a huge, soft, even source of light with no harsh shadows and no squinting into the sun. Skin tones sit beautifully, whites don't blow out, and the blues and greens of the sea stay saturated.

Bright midday sun, by contrast, is the hardest light of the day to work in: hard shadows under the eyes, blown-out foreheads, a washed-out sea. This is part of why we default to late-afternoon slots — but a lightly overcast Phuket afternoon can be even better again.

Small tips your photographer will love

  • Don't cancel because it's grey — those photos are often the best.
  • Ask about a short candid session in the ten minutes after any passing shower — the light is at its most beautiful then.
  • If it's genuinely raining, we can bring a pair of clear umbrellas; couples-under-umbrellas is a classic frame, not a fallback.
  • Skip full-length trailing dresses if wet sand worries you — a tea-length or side-drape falls better.
  • Give yourselves ten quiet minutes after the ceremony for just-the-two-of-you photos, wherever the light happens to be.

What you can do

  • Trust the local read on the day — the app forecast is not the full picture.
  • Build a day or two of buffer into your trip if you can, so a small time shift is easy.
  • Talk it through with Supparin during your call — see about Supparin.
