Locations

The best Phuket beach for a simple ceremony.

Every couple asks the same thing: which beach? The honest answer is that the right beach depends on your date, your tide and your idea of quiet. Here's how we choose.

Phuket has many beaches, but weddings are not permitted at all of them, and much of what appears online about beach wedding locations here is out of date. For a simple Barefoot ceremony we work with a small, deliberate shortlist — the beaches where the permissions, the access and the setting all genuinely work.

The Barefoot shortlist

A representative Phuket beach — Layan and Hua Beach are the two current Barefoot ceremony locations.

The three locations we currently use are Layan Beach, Hua Beach, and Kan Eang @ Pier. Each has a clear character:

  • Layan Beach — a relaxed west-coast setting with reliable access and a simple setup. Well suited to elopements, vow renewals and small family ceremonies, with easy guest management. Venue access fee currently 3,000 THB.
  • Hua Beach — quieter and more private-feeling, with dependable access and fewer distractions than the busier tourist beaches. A good fit for ceremony-only weddings and family groups. Venue access fee currently 3,000 THB.
  • Kan Eang @ Pier — a beachside restaurant venue for couples who want a ceremony followed by dinner. Easier guest arrival, and a practical wet-weather fallback. Venue fee currently 10,000 THB.

Venue fees may change and are confirmed at booking.

A note on beaches you may have read about elsewhere

Many travel articles and older guides still name beaches such as Kata, Karon, Nai Harn, Nai Yang, Surin, Bang Tao and Mai Khao as wedding locations. In practice, ceremonies are not currently permitted at those beaches — regardless of what search results suggest. If you've saved a photo from one, tell us on the call and we'll suggest the closest, most honest fit from our approved shortlist.

Why we choose closer to the date

Between Layan and Hua Beach, the better choice for a specific day depends on the tide, the sunset time and the weather that week. Supparin confirms the final beach closer to your date, when the tide chart, sunset time and weekly conditions are all in view — see how it works for the full flow.

Tide, sunset and light

The three variables that actually shape a beach ceremony are the tide (how much sand is exposed), the sunset direction (whether the sun sits behind the couple or off to the side) and the light (the golden hour before sunset). A good beach on the wrong tide can look tiny; a modest beach on the right tide can look endless. Supparin plans around the tide chart, not the calendar.

What "private" really means on a Phuket beach

The beaches we use are low-traffic by design. Hua Beach in particular feels notably private, and Layan is calm and easy to guest-manage. At the right time of day both feel unhurried, and a ceremony sits comfortably in its own space.

Weather, season and beach choice

The west coast is at its calmest from November to April. During the green season, Layan and Hua Beach can still work beautifully on the right day, and Kan Eang @ Pier gives a natural wet-weather fallback for couples who want the safety of a covered setting. What's included wherever we set up

Beach permit, celebrant, signing table, floral aisle stands, bridal bouquet, groom buttonhole, photography, coordination and return transport are the same on every beach we work — see the Barefoot Ceremony. If you want to add chairs, an arch, hair and makeup or extra flowers, everything is on extras.
